July is fast approaching, and so is the next Xbox event. However, according to JezCorden of WindowsCentral, fans should expect the event later in the month.
The event never had a release date, but it is nice to know not to expect the event earlier in the month. The event will be Microsoft's big blowout event for the Xbox Series X. According to the rumors, it will be a series of mic drops. Details about an Xbox Series S and the price of the two consoles will also be announced at the event as well. Halo: Infinite will also have a significant presence at the event, considering its Microsoft's big launch title for the Xbox Series X.
The last Xbox Series X event concluded with gameplay reveals of Assassins Creed: Valhalla, an event that wasn't received too well by fans. Hopefully, this July event will meet the expectations that fans have. It will be interesting to see what other first-party announcements at the event. Microsoft has spent the last few years acquiring new studios to develop exclusives for Xbox, and its about time to see what everybody is up too. Microsoft seems confident in their first-party lineup, but it will be interesting to see if they match up to Playstation's first-party games that dominated this generation.
Due to COVID-19, E3 announcements have been spread out throughout the Summer. June events included the PlayStation 5 reveal, EA Play, and New Game+ Expo. Fans also got game-specific directs from Pokemon, Cyberpunk 2077, and The Avengers. Besides the Xbox event in July, Ubisoft is expected to have a conference. Gamescon will have an online event in August, and nobody knows what Nintendo is going to do this Summer.
Microsoft's July event needs to hit a home run. The PlayStation 5 event delivered in almost every way. Xbox needs to counter with a stronger event if they want the next generation to be competitive. Microsoft needs to announce some fantastic first-party titles beyond Halo: Infinite. Microsoft has the services, with GamePass and xCloud, but needs games to match Playstation's incredible first-party games. July will be an exciting month for gamers, and the next-generation battle between Sony and Microsoft will be underway.
