Roma win race to sign Brazilian winger Malcom from Bordeaux

Bordeaux starlet Malcom is the next big thing to come out of Ligue 1. Check out his best goals and assists from the 2017-18 season.

Roma have won the race to sign highly coveted winger Malcom from Bordeaux, as the clubs announced on Monday that a deal has been agreed.

“Bordeaux announce they have reached an agreement with Roma for the transfer of Malcom, subject to the signing of administrative documents,” the French club tweeted.

After heavy links to Arsenal and Tottenham in January, the 21-year-old Brazilian had also drawn reported interest from Inter Milan, Everton, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

In recent months, he had made no secret of his ambition to further his career elsewhere, and Bordeaux admitted in April they expected him to leave this summer.

Reports in Italy suggested the transfer fee would be worth around €40 million.

Malcom scored 12 goals in 35 Ligue 1 appearances for Bordeaux last season and has made 96 appearances in all competitions since joining from Corinthians in January 2016.

He has represented his country at the under-20 level but has yet to appear for the senior side.
