Finally the round of 16 is over yesterday with some of the quality teams qualified while some of the smaller teams also made upset in the last round by knocking some stronger teams like Spain, Argentine and Portugal. Majority of the matches were decided on the penalties as the teams drew in normal time and extra time.

France and Argentina played a really good match but France go through by the brilliant performance by Mbappe. Portugal was sent back to home by Uruguay in next match. Spain was the very first team that was sent back home on penalties against Russia and the second match was also decided on the penalties between Croatia and Denmark in which Croatia went on to the next round. Brazil won their match easily against Mexico to go through to next round. The match played between Belgium and japan was the most dramatic match as Belgium scored the winner in the very last minute of stoppage time. Sweden won the match by just one goal to nil from Switzerland. And the last match was played between England and Columbia that was decided on penalties by England.

Now eight of the teams have qualified for the quarter finals. First match will be played between France and Uruguay on Friday. The second match will be played between Brazil and Belgium on the same day. The next two matches will be played on Saturday as Sweden will face England and the second match will be between Russia and Croatia. I hope to see great drama this time in this round as the trophy is just two more steps ahead. All of the teams will try their best to get the trophy in their hands. Let’s see what happens.
